Ahmed Maher – Oud Virtuoso, Composer & Producer
Ahmed Maher is a Vancouver-based Oud virtuoso, composer, arranger, and music producer, originally from Alexandria, Egypt. A student of the legendary Iraqi Oud master Nasser Shamma, Ahmed has performed across the Middle East and Europe, blending traditional Middle Eastern melodies with the improvisational spirit of jazz.
His collaborations span a diverse musical landscape, working with Grammy-winning composer Fathy Salama, Tunisian singer Ghalia Ben Ali, and jazz luminaries such as Edouard Ferlet, Benjamin Koppel, and Tommy Andersson. His highly anticipated debut album, Maktoub, is set to deliver a groundbreaking fusion of tradition and innovation.
Ahmed is also the founder of The Immersion Collective, a collaborative body of artists creating fully improvised, immersive performances that unfold in real-time. The collective’s first project, The Canvas of Light and Sound, sold out at Gallery 881 and Notional Space, captivating audiences with its seamless blend of live music, visual art, and digital projections.
