Long Table Transparent Logo

The Long Table Society is all about supporting our community.
We go where the need is.

We live in Burnaby and are passionate about the health and well-being of our neighbours.

Our Long Table Society was born from the idea that “if you are more fortunate than others, it is better to build a longer table than a higher fence.”

This is what we do.

How? We combat isolation and food insecurity by bringing people together through our events and programs.

We listen to our neighbours to understand what challenges and barriers they are facing.  We tailor our services to address existing and growing needs.

What makes us different?

We are the North Burnaby Community Connectors!

We welcome people into community and help them connect to food resources, community organizations, and each other.

We build upon the passions and skills of our neighbours – we encourage and strengthen them so they, in turn, can support and uplift others.

Connecting people through Festivals, Fairs, and Gatherings

North Burnaby Community Fair – September 2023

In collaboration with 21 community organizations and the City of Burnaby, we organized NE Burnaby’s first Community Fair.  Nearly 1,000 people joined us and learned about what is available in their neighbourhood while they joined in on the fun!

Nourishing the Community – November 2023

We served hot soup to Food Hub families who were picking up their weekly food hampers.

Holiday Luncheon & Magic Show – December 2023

We brought families together for a free holiday meal that included fun activities for their children.  This gave them a chance to meet each other, learn about local supports and resources, and enjoy a gathering in their neighbourhood.

StrideFest – February 2024

We continue to build community through the arts connecting over 3,000 people each year through our workshops, art walks, and concerts.

This year’s art festival theme is “Nourishing Community”.

ConnectFest (previously "Burnaby Festival of Learning") – April 2024

As part of the Steering Committee, The Long Table Society is hosting an event centred around connecting community through food.  Everyone’s favorite type of event!

North Burnaby Community Fair – September 2024

At this annual event, local organizations provide information and resources amongst a fun atmosphere with music, food and activities for all ages
