Jane Appleby

Jane Appleby is an expressive and intuitive painter who paints with the vigour of her love of life, inspired by the Canadian Landscape, often painting outdoors in the tradition of the Canadian Group of Seven – “En Plein Air.”

Working with my hands to make beauty is what I strive to do. My first love is ceramics but after having kids the ceramic studio demands were too intense, so I switched to kitchen table possibilities; small, easily stashed micro investigations into materials and sculpture.

Rob McGregor

Leith Davis and husband Rob McGregor are one half of The Sybaritic String Band, a Vancouver-based quartet that hosts monthly contradances at St James Community Square.

Dorothy Doherty

Dorothy exhibits regularly in group and solo shows. She lives in Burnaby, BC., paints at Portside Studios in Vancouver, and works with ceramics at the Shadbolt Art Centre in Burnaby, BC.

Gamma Garage

The Gamma Garage enjoys sharing their work in the community. They have participated in Living Room Art in the Heights, shown their work and have taught art classes in Burnaby Neighborhood House.

Garth Gibson

Garth Gibson is one of the two North Burnaby-based multi-instrumentalists who are the core of the North Burnaby Blues Project. He has a love of blues, roots and various other music genres.

Ana-Francisca Haas

Prior coming to Canada, Ana-Francesca attended an Art School. After finishing university she sought to improve her drawing by attending life drawing classes at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.

Haleluya Hailu

Haleluya Hailu is a 17 yr old, a singer-songwriter who likes pasta and has had a love of performing since she could talk. She’s won Burnaby’s Got Talent and is the host at Vibecheck radio at CJSF 90.1 FM. Check her out @haleluyahailu

Rebecca Heyl

Since 2017 Rebecca has been working as an Artist-in-Residence in Vancouver public schools with the AIRS program. Heyl’s personal work largely deals with social rights issues carried out in the mediums of photography and installation.

Marilyn Noort & David Holloway

Marilyn and Dave have been playing Irish traditional music together for the past ten years. We really enjoy the social side of being able to play with friends.

Akemi Ito

Akemi (Emma) Ito is a mixed media illustrator and picture book maker. Originally from Japan, and now living on the West Coast of Canada, her creative style and drawings are influenced by both Eastern and Western cultures.

Jennie Johnston

Over the course of the 2017-2018 school year Jennie was Artist-In-Residence at Forest Grove Elementary school in Burnaby. During the residency 300 students created 5 unique quilts and learned traditional and artistic textile skills.

Philomena Jordan

Philomena personifies the Irish Gift for telling stories, reciting poetry and spontaneous singing. She was born into a large family on a small farm in the West of Ireland. She grew up in an atmosphere rich in the Gaelic culture and traditions of the Irish Countryside.

Nina Koba

I love using oil on canvas, using the classical style school. My style is kind of contemporary with a soft abstract touch. I like using bright colours with a lot a light and I like painting in middle and large sizes.

Dawn Livera

Dawn Livera creates art intuitively without planning, letting the materials and her instincts guide her process. She works with individuals and community groups to help others to discover their personal artistic voices, without judgement

Living Like Larry

Living Like Larry presents an online music production of music from the 60s to todays’ classics both in audio and visual. Melodic favorites and oddities are presented in a warming manner, from members with years of professional stage and studio experience.

Iris Mes Low

Iris’ art depicts images of her subconscious, creating surrealistic abstractions of landscapes. Mes-Low’s approach is of tightening forms and accentuating the intensity of the environment. Her trees take on human-like characteristics as they congregate against dawning skies and urban hubs of suburbia

Tami Murray

Tami studied drawing, printmaking, Book Making ceramics and sculpture and painting and photography. Tami splits her creative time between teaching the next generation of visual artists and making art.

Yunuen Perez Vertti

She has over 15 years of experience in the film and television industry. She has worked in various roles and projects and produced films for many public, private, and non-profit organizations. She is passionate about using art as a tool for community building.

Keri Povall

Keri is a classically trained flutist that enjoys exploring a diverse range of Jazz, Celtic and Fusion music. She has played with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa as well as the folk band “Celtis”.

Kalyan Rath

Kalyan Rath is a 17yr old musician and producer from Houston, Texas. His family moved to Vancouver when he was 10 yrs old, and that is when he realized his passion for music. He has been creating and producing music since then.

I make one of a kind handcrafted pebble and twig home Decor designed with natural wood, pebbles and semi precious stones.

Carolyn Sullivan

I am a member of the Arts Committee and photographer working in several areas: product, art, event, and face exposure. My photographic education and skills are solid in image processing for print and digital video. I am particularly adept with studio lighting and natural light sources.

Winnie Tam

As Interim Executive Director, she supports the ArtStarts team in building their capacity, resilience, and leadership skills to empower them to fulfill ArtStarts’ mission. Winnie ensures that ArtStarts’ strategic direction, operations, and programs are robust and values-driven in service of promoting the arts as essential to life and learning for BC’s young people

Bill Thomson

Bill is a Past President of the Burnaby Arts Council, Founder of the online Still Creek Gallery and is currently President of the Sculptors’ Society of BC

Vancouver Street Photography Collective (VANSPC)

Vancouver Street Photography Collective (VANSPC) displays the work of seven Burnaby photographers, each bringing a unique perspective of community to this exhibit.

Grant Withers

Grant is an accredited professional photographer and Craftsman of Photographic Arts with the Professional Photographers of Canada. Grant is always pushing his craft, striving to be a leader in Canadian photographic art.

Joshua Yang

Joshua Yang is a Vancouver-based musician and composer who has composed award-winning pieces for the Vancouver Chamber Choir, and for piano. His choral works have been performed at the Chan Center in UBC and he has performed his jazz compositions with his jazz combo, the Jazz Aces, at events all over the lower mainland.
