Ana-Francisca's Story

I can guide the paint up to a point, but it always does its own thing too and it's wonderful to discover.
The Process
I work in watercolor because I like the fact that I can never perfectly pre-visualize what the final painting is going to look. I can guide the paint up to a point, but it always does its own thing too and it’s wonderful to discover.
I enjoy painting portraits the most. When I look at a face, I look at it as a whole, but I like breaking it down and exploring each feature piece by piece as I paint it. I paint my children often and they are also the models for my painting for the STRIDE event.
This painting is influenced by the pandemic, but I wanted to focus on a positive aspect of it and that is the fact that having no choice but to either play with each other or alone, my sons became better friends. I wanted to capture their relationship as they adapted to a new reality.
