Deanna's Story
Deanna Fogstrom’s photography and paintings capture urban life and explore Vancouver and Paris’ unique, distinctive architecture.
Her paintings examine new glass towers of Vancouver as well as its traditional iconic structures. The complexity of Paris’ built environment is an emotional charge which fuels her interpretation of this city.
Her most recent series, Late Bloomers, explores floral forms. Deanna is a graduate of Concordia University, (MA), Emily Carr University of Art + Design (BFA), Simon Fraser University, (BA), (French, and Professional Teaching Certificate).
Along with showing her work locally, nationally and internationally, Deanna has been a member of the Parker Art Salon Council and board member of the Canadian Friends of Finland.
The inviting, diverse street life of cities is central to my practice as a painter. Travel and language studies have led me to create acrylic and oil paintings of Vancouver and Paris.
The urban landscape and history of these cities intrigues me and infects me with the spirit of freedom, protest and love, just like Joni Mitchell’s song, “… I was a free man in Paris, I felt unfettered and alive.” My most recent series of paintings, Late Bloomers, explores floral relationships.
