Donna's Story
Donna is a watercolour painter and a fabric artist.
She began working with textiles at the age of 8. Much of her life involved working with many textile mediums (weaving, macramé, embroidery and quilting).
Thirty years ago, she studied watercolour painting. As it was a challenging medium, she started to experiment with watercolour techniques on fabric. Many of the techniques worked. As her fabric painting developed, so did her work on paper. She started to experiment with watercolour on canvas. Today she paints watercolour in all 3 mediums.
Donna is a retired Burnaby teacher who taught art to many Burnaby students. She also worked as a visiting artist and an artist in residence in several schools. Her work has been exhibited across Canada, in the USA and Hawaii. She has had 20 solo exhibitions.
Connecting Through Burnaby Parks — We are very fortunate to have many parks in Burnaby. During the Great Depression, many residents lost their land due to the inability to pay their land taxes. Fortunately, the city of Burnaby had the insight to develop these lands into our parks of today. Moving ahead to 2020 and the covid pandemic, we were forced into isolation. It was a very quiet and lonely time for many. However, living in Burnaby we were able to help ease our feelings of isolation by parks. It was a time to socialize, walk and enjoy the beauty of our parks
