I am inspired by the movements I experience in nature as well as those within my heart.
Whether I paint directly on location or in the solitude of my studio, I employ a variety of painting tools, large and small, to express the dynamic vibrancy I feel is present.
Watercolour was my first medium and I still enjoy using. However, acrylics and oils offer unlimited play and flow that challenge me and what II predominantly use.
I often work “wet in wet,” leaving as many of the initial gestures as possible while letting some of the colours dry so I may add layers of specific colour to complete the painting.
I focus on repetitions of elements that offer visual movements throughout the canvas, and add selected marks, such as lines or dots to add to the visual exploration.
These colourful movements also express the joy I take to my work.
