Sana's Story
Sana Goel is a young emerging artist studying at the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University in the Visual Arts program.
Goel has always been interested and passionate about art but only decided to get into it professionally when she joined university. Prior to joining art school, Goel has been self-taught, but she values the education she gets at SFU as she feels pushed out of her comfort zone and likes being challenged. Her recent projects focus on themes of fragmentation, self-recognition, and the interplay of sensory experiences.
As our perception of art continues to evolve, Goel is experimenting with ways to challenge and expand these changes. Through exhibitions, art walks, and community engagements, Goel aims to foster self-reflection and spark dialogue.
By creating spaces where diverse voices can share stories and perspectives, she seeks to inspire meaningful connections across cultures, geographies, and generations.
Sana Goel is an interdisciplinary artist who studies the world through an artistic lens, using her work to interpret people, cultures, and the subtleties of everyday life. Drawing inspiration from her Indian heritage and the ever-changing world, she blends traditional and modern aesthetics to create pieces that resonate with diverse audiences.
A central theme in Goel’s artistic journey is temporality—the idea that life is malleable and infinitely changing. She views the present as an active collaborator in shaping the entirety of one’s life. By working from her past, present, and future, she creates art that transports viewers and invites them to reflect on their own place within the broader context of human existence.
Goel’s practice spans diverse techniques, but she is particularly drawn to experimenting with materials and textures. Goel uses them to craft layered, tactile works that explore the interplay of form and meaning. She is also developing a growing interest in mixed media to push the boundaries of creative expression.
