Vancouver Street Photography Collective's Story

Vancouver Street Photography Collective (VANSPC) displays the work of seven Burnaby photographers, each bringing a unique perspective of community to this exhibit. The featured images depict everyday life in Burnaby neighbourhoods, as seen through personal connections to and experiences in Burnaby. For them, “In Stride” has multiple meanings: 1) Marking their participation in Stride 2021 – Burnaby Arts Festival, 2) How much walking they do as street photographers, 3) Harmonizing as a team for this project, they are in stride with one another and 4) Resilience during this challenging time and “taking it all in stride.” Their Collective, VANSPC, was created because they have a firm belief and desire to document Greater Vancouver. They strongly feel that it is their responsibility to leave for future generations a visual record of a city that is constantly in flux, as well as to celebrate its lesser known corners, which may otherwise be overlooked or forgotten. Their mission is to provide a supportive environment for local street photographers and develop ways to share their work with the wider public. Enjoy their latest collection, In Stride.
