Zlata Hurtic

Zlata's Story

I am an artist inspired by the strength of movement that is captured in my paintings using different mediums such as acrylic oil and water colours. My passion for painting amplified after the passing of my brother Hamid who loved to create works of art and has been an inspiration to me growing up. I love to create art that resonates with others by combining realism and abstract into one.

Zlata Hurtic, born 1963 in Bosnia, where she lived, studied and worked until 1992, at which point she fled to Germany. With her family, she lived there until immigrating to Vancouver, Canada in 1998.

Her passion for art started at an early age, while observing her brother, Hamid Osmicic, whose style she has always admired.

Zlata held her first art exhibit in June 2012 at Shadbolt Centre for Art in Burnaby, and her showing was well received by her circle of supporters. After that, Zlata had her art exhibited Agora Art Gallery New York, Glitz Entertainment Vancouver, PAKS Art Gallery in Austria, and many other art showings. One of Zlata’s paintings is the cover of a novel that was published in 2013, as well as two book covers of novel and poetry.
